I have been in the employee benefits and insurance business for over 20 years.  For much of that time I worked with the benefits considered “ancillary” such as life, dental and disability insurance. Four years ago I joined the family business and began working on the front lines trying to help employers provide meaningful benefits without going broke. The problem is that as the employer tries to offer something they can afford, the employees find it even harder to afford.  Employee premium sharing goes up every year just like the copays, deductibles and out of pocket costs.

Everyone gets less for more.

The current system is broken and I don’t see how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) does anything to reduce the cost of health care services or health insurance.

So with that in mind I began thinking about alternative ways to navigate the system.  The good news is that the environment exists right now for employers of all sizes to take advantage of current tax laws and existing insurance regulations to offer a meaningful health insurance and benefits program for their employees.  The better news is that if people are willing to take a little responsibility for their own lifestyle choices and spend as much time researching health insurance options as they do large screen TV’s they will reap the financial rewards.

Bottom line is that my mission is to educate employers so they can empower their employees and educate employees so they can take care of themselves.
